Social Sciences at the Crossroads of Digital Transformation

As our world becomes increasingly interconnected and shaped by digital technologies, the Social Sciences play a pivotal role in understanding and navigating these changes. The When Science Meets Art (WSMA) event brings together a selection of core topics from Social Sciences that explore the most pressing issues facing society today, offering a critical lens through which we can assess, adapt, and innovate for the future.
At the forefront of societal transformation is Political Sciences and Digital Governance, a section that examines how governance, policy, and political structures are being redefined in the digital age. This theme is closely connected to Law and Society, where the evolving legal frameworks and societal responsibilities are addressed, particularly in the face of new technologies and global challenges.
The intersection of economic growth, sustainability, and financial systems is explored through Economics, Finance, and Sustainability, where the need for resilient and equitable economic models is emphasized. Complementing this is Business, Management, and Digital Innovation, a section dedicated to understanding how businesses and industries are transforming through digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions.
Social Sciences have always sought to understand human behavior and cultural diversity, and this remains at the heart of Anthropology, Ethnology, and Human Adaptation. Here, we explore the adaptive processes that shape human societies in response to cultural and environmental shifts. Mental health and societal well-being are addressed through Psychology and Psychiatry, providing both traditional and forward-looking perspectives on psychological health in the modern world.
Our evolving digital societies are examined in Sociology, Social Work, and Digital Societies, where the role of social structures, community dynamics, and digital connectivity are explored. Education and Digital Learning Innovations offers insights into how education is transforming through the use of technology, reshaping how knowledge is shared and accessed across the globe.
The global nature of today’s challenges is further examined in Cultural Studies and Globalization, a section that looks at how culture, identity, and globalization intersect in the 21st century. Meanwhile, the crucial role of media in shaping societal narratives is explored in Media, Communications, and Misinformation in the Digital Age, where the production, dissemination, and impact of information are scrutinized.
Finally, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Society delves into one of the most transformative technologies of our time. This section focuses on how AI is reshaping governance, economy, education, and social interaction, exploring the ethical, social, and economic impacts of this technological revolution.
Through these Social Sciences sections, WSMA offers a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, critical analysis, and the exchange of ideas that will shape the future of society in a rapidly changing world.
