ART MEETS SCIENCE in the Time of a PANDEMIC
Round-table/Panel Discussion
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, our way of life has dramatically changed. It has affected all spheres of human activities – social, cultural, economic, and even our everyday routines. A great crisis in human relations and welfare has taken place, so we have to face that problem seriously. However, it is not only our physical health that we should consider but also our psychological condition. By being isolated or restricted to perform our artistic and scientific activities freely, we are deprived of many essential needs of our soul. Art, entertainment, and science are parts of human life as important as education, healthcare, and the economy. Artists have created new virtual forms and even tendencies of performing, which enriched our means to interact and make art. But it is crucial also to keep the traditional live-forms because no digital medium could sufficiently replace them. And yet, technological progress made it possible for us to use alternative forms of communication, scientific and artistic events, instead of being fully confined in our homes. The pandemic showed us once again the substantial role and benefits of the union of scientific and artistic endeavors to improve human well-being.
